Project Management

The project management function is an essential part in guaranteeing the success of any ICT project. AVTech's project management methodology ensures that projects are clearly defined from the outset and it has a focus on quality throughout the entire lifecycle of the project. This methodology is based on the industry recognised PRINCE2 methodology with additions and modifications to fit AVTech's role as a services and solutions provider.

AVTech's Project Management Methodology

Although AVTech's project management methodology is based on PRINCE2 it is not an implementation of PRINCE2. AVTech has identified specific requirements in terms of how it engages with customers, that means the AVTech project management requires additional elements incorporated into it that are outside the scope of PRINCE2. These additional elements include a Proposal and Business Assurance check. Basic alignment has been undertaken with PRINCE2 for the following reasons:

  • To ensure that AVTech's methodology is based on on the worlds best practice in project management.
  • To ensure AVTech's methodology is aligned as much as practicable with methodologies used by AVTech's major customers.
  • To provide a methodology that staff can easily assimilate to because of its use of industry recognised terminology, processes and deliverables.

The AVTech project management methodology delivers five major stages to all projects; Star-up, Initiation, Execute, Close, and Manage. The executive stage is made up of multiple substages that are selected as required for individual projects.

It is important to note that the Management stage provides the overarching management layer for all projects delivered by AVTech. This stage commences upon acceptance of the proposal (or signing of the contract) by the client from the start-up stage and concludes simultaneously with the close project stage. The manage stage provides the integration of the following elements:

  • Time management
  • Cost management
  • Scope management
  • Quality management
  • Risk management
  • Communication management
  • Procurement management
  • Human Resource management

Why is it important to AVTech Clients?

It is important for clients that they choose an organisation that has a consistent project management methodology in place which is common to all types of projects. In this way, resources can move comfortably from application development to infrastructure roll-out, to software selection to even relocating to a new building using the same approach. By adopting this project management methodology, AVTech has succesfully managed and delivered ICT projects for clients both locally and overseas, regardless of size or complexity.
